British child prodigy named world golfing champion after succeeding at USA event

Most sports mad six year old children dream of becoming the best at their favourite sport, but for one little boy from Bristol, Jaxson Perry, that dream has come true.

Jaxson has a handicap of thirty and recently flew out to Pinehurst, North Carolina, to compete at the US Kids 2016 World Golf. He went on to win the competition and to be crowned the world champion in the under 8’s pairs competition as well as in the putting event for under 7’s. Not only did this talented schoolboy manage that, but he has also been crowned the top-ranking European player throughout all age categories.

So how did this young boy beat off stiff competition from the other 1,450 players from across the world, dubbed as the greatest junior golf competition for the ages of six to twelve?

It all started two years ago, when four-year old Jaxson copied his grandfather and swung his first club as though he had been doing it for years. For a four year old to do that you’ll have to admit, is pretty impressive. Jaxson’s parents enrolled him into group lessons in the Summer of 2014, where he advanced quickly and within nine months had completed his first competition where he finished fourth.

Jaxson caught the golfing bug, practising his putting in the hallway of his home every evening and has developed a true passion for the game. He is showing promising skills and a genuine love for the sport, something his parents are proud to encourage him to carry on with for as long as he wants to. His father Andrew Perry, believes he has fantastic potential to become one of the great golfers should he continue, but ultimately they want him to enjoy the sport and to keep enjoying it without it becoming a chore or losing its appeal to the youngster.
