Ambassadors 2016

We are delighted to introduce our five new Ambassadors for 2016 all of whom are One Up customers.  These ladies will be wearing and reviewing a range of our garments throughout the year and we very much look forward to receiving their comments and photographs.  We hope you will join us in welcoming them.

Barbara Cooper

Barbara Cooper

I took up golf in 1994 at a local 9 hole club to build up my strength after a business visit to India where my husband and I contracted a severe bout of food poisoning.  This left us very weak and after passing the 9 hole golf club decided walking would aid our recovery and build up our strength.  We were hooked from then on.

We joined Humberston Park Golf Club there and then in 1994 and I was made Lady Captain in 1997.

Feeling the need for a longer course we then joined Tetney Golf Club, which is an 18 hole course, and Waltham Windmill Golf Club had just opened and was only taking members in stages.  We had put our names down and were invited to join in 1998.  This is where I play my golf now.

I am a member of the A team for Waltham Windmill and enjoy the competitiveness of match play.

My other interest in Golf is playing for the Lincolnshire Vets team in various inter county matches.

We have played in Ireland and enjoyed courses such as: Ennis, Limerick County, Portumna, Galway, Drumoland Castle, Kilrush and Shannon plus others of course.

Also our visits to Scotland have included golf at courses such as: Pitlochry, Callender, King James, Killin, Muthill, Blair, and of course Crieff which is next to the Whisky distillery and a visit is most welcome for my husband if I happen to beat him on the golf course.

My other interests include gardening, and travelling in the UK when we can also include pursuing our other interest of tracing family history and taking in golf in the Norfolk area where my husbands ancestors are from.

We have been married 50 years in August and will probably take a golf tour to celebrate that occasion.

Laura HobsonAlways a keen sportswoman, I learned to play golf while growing up in South Africa.

Having had a long break from the game, my family and I joined Clandon Regis Golf Club some 8 years ago where I am the Junior Organiser and Ladies Vice Captain.  We have a thriving and active ladies section.

I have been a customer of One Up since I started playing golf again 8 years ago.

Mary Thomson

Mary ThomsonI live in Central Scotland and have enjoyed playing golf in my own area and abroad – Spain, Portugal, Florida and Turkey – for around forty years.

Apart from my own club, Dunblane New, I am also a member of Stirling and Clackmannan County and the Scottish Vets (Midland Division).

We are a golfing family, my husband having played since he was a young man, and my two sons following suit.

My husband and I are very interested in wildlife and are members of the R.S.P.B.  We also like antiques and going to auctions.  Golf, however, has long been our main hobby.

On the golf course, there is great camaraderie and the social life at the 19th hole is very lively.  Being an Ambassador for One Up has already brought the benefit of speaking to even more members who are all, of course, interested in my apparel.

Tracy Higgs

Tracy HiggsHaving always been a sports orientated person I took up golf in the 1990s when I unfortunately had to give up my horses due to an accident and being an outdoor type I desperately needed another sport to get me fit again.  After a few lessons I was let loose on the 18 hole course and really couldn't get enough.  I joined my local club so I could get my handicap to enable me to play in competitions and also to represent the club in various matches.

I live in Northamptonshire with my partner and work for a dance company managing the venues and processing the database.  I enjoy cycling and try to do this regularly.  We are lucky enough to own a narrowboat and love to relax cruising up the river and also attend steam rallies throughout the summer.

I am very passionate about the 1940s era, I love the glamour, fashions, make-up and hairstyles and get involved with re-enactment weekends when possible.  Smart and well co-ordinated outfits are important to me on and off the golf course and that is why I have been a customer of One Up for many years.

Brand Ambassador Tracy Higgs talking about our latest Autumn/Winter brochure:

Just received my Autumn brochure from One Up Golf and I just wanted to say what a lovely collection is available for this time of year, I also liked the fact that cotton still features quite a lot during this time as I still find it is ideal under jackets etc to stop you overheating if it is a bit changeable in temperature. The Penny Sweater is 100% cotton, as is the Molly sweater, Elaine Roll neck and Jaki Polo shirt so full marks for these and also I love the colours and styles of the waterproofs ie the CGI FZ Jacket and the Proquip collection, the rouge and black colours are very striking and will certainly draw admiring glances on the course. Well done to all concerned and keep yo the good work!

Ambassadors 2015

Below our previous Ambassadors.

Tricia Hanks

Tricia Hanks

I retired early, and needed something to fill my time. This is where golf came into my life and I have never enjoyed anything quite so much.  I am a member at Rustington G.C, and also Hill Barn G.C. both of which are on the South coast. We have a wonderful Ladies section at Rustington and I am never short of a playing partner or two!! My sons are also avid golfers, and I love going out with them for a round.

I play golf abroad as well and enjoy Spain and the USA the most. I also enjoy my grandchildren now I have more time and I can't wait to take them up to the driving range, when they are a little older.

My golf clothes are as important as my golf equipment.  I like to look stylish, but above all, the clothes have to be comfortable and fit for purpose. One up offers affordable, stylish clothing with plenty of choice which I really like.

Yvonne Greaves

Yvonne Greaves

I have been a keen golfer for many years but recently have played more frequently.  I am a member at Spalding Golf Club.  My husband and I participate in Mixed Pairs events at other clubs in the Lincolnshire area and I enjoy playing in my Club's individual competitions.

Dressing appropriately for golf is important to me being very much part of trying to play well.  I have bought my clothing through One Up over many years.  Quality and fit are key reasons for this.  We are looking forward to 2015 having already planned golfing breaks in the UK.

Irene Varley

Irene Varley

I took up golf whilst still working in local government some 13/14 years ago.  It has almost taken over my life since then.  Like everyone else who plays I'd love to play better and this year it's my New Year' resolution to lower my handicap.

My husband and I go on golfing holidays, sometimes on our own or with up to six others.  We've gone to Turkey for eight years and go to Scotland (where I'm from) at least once a year to play - from the Hebrides to the borders.  We've also played in N America, Portugal, Spain and Jamaica.

I am a member of Eaton Golf Club, Chester where we have a large, friendly and supportive group of ladies.

We spend as much time as we can, and our families’ busy lives allow, with them too and enjoy being with or having our grandchildren to stay.
